Child protection policy and procedures
As part of creating a safe environment for children, your organisation should adopt a child protection policy and procedure for dealing with allegations.
- Child protection policy
Establish a policy that sets out your commitment to child protection. For some sports, this may form part of a broader member protection policy.
- Allegations procedure
To accompany your policy, put in place specific procedures for making, managing and dealing with allegations.
- Codes of conduct
You may already have codes of conduct in place, but ensure they cover child protection issues and expectations. For example, your coaches code of conduct may need to specify “All physical contact with a person should be appropriate to the situation and necessary for the person’s skill development.”
