Child protection training

NSW Sport and Recreation is committed to ensuring that the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children is maintained at all times. Our aim is to promote a safe environment for all children to participate in sport.

Our free Child Protection information seminars help the community understand the importance of keeping children safe during their involvement in sport.

As a provider of sport and recreation activities, the seminars will assist you to understand your responsibilities under the Child Protection (Prohibited Employment) Act 1998 and the Commission for Children and Young People Act 1998.

These seminars are free of charge and will cover:

  • Why is this legislation needed?
  • Does it affect me? Does it affect my sport?
  • What do I have to do as an individual or a representative of a sport and recreation organisation?
  • How can the Department help us with this?
  • Where do we go from here?
