Far West travel scheme
The Far West travel scheme aims to encourage participation in regular sport and recreation activity by people living in the Far West and remote areas of NSW. The scheme offers financial assistance to not-for-profit sport and recreation organisations, and individuals, to help with the costs of travel to sports competitions and events.
Who can apply?
- Sporting teams, clubs and associations (junior and senior)
- Recreation clubs and associations (junior and senior)
- Sporting individuals (not belonging to a team)
- Not-for-profit organisations
Assistance is limited to one application per family or sporting association.
When can I apply?
Applications open bi-annually.
- Intake one - 1 April to 31 March (12 months travel). Opens - 1 February. Closes 31 March.
Eligible sports - rugby league, rugby union, Australian rules, touch football, soccer, netball, basketball, hockey, inline hockey, endurance racing, karate, clay target shooting, pistol shooting, gun/rifle shooting.
- Intake two - 1 October to 30 September (12 months travel). Opens - 1 August. Closes 30 September.
Eligible sports- golf, lawn bowls, indoor bowls, tennis, swimming, cricket, athletics, baseball, gymnastics, softball, bushwalking, aerobics, squash, boxing, darts, motor sports, skate sports, rodeo, pony club, polocrosse, showjumping, equestrian, dressage, campdraft, motor cycling, motorcrosse.
NB. sports must apply for intake as listed above.
