Race club facility grant program

NOTE: The Race club facility grant program is now closed.

The Race Club Facility Grant Program (RCFGP) is to assist rural and regional race clubs develop their facilities and recover from the Equine Flu crisis.

The maximum grant available through the RCFGP is $100,000.

Eligible applicants under this program are incorporated not-for-profit organisations, affiliated with Racing NSW, Harness Racing NSW and Greyhound Racing NSW wishing to develop facilities that will directly assist racing in rural and regional areas.

Rural and regional areas include all areas in NSW, excluding the inner and outer Sydney Metropolitan areas as defined by the Department of Local Government (www.dlg.nsw.gov.au ).

What types of projects will and will not be considered?

Will be considered

  • Construction of new fixed and portable facilities and infrastructure including capital equipment with a life expectancy of 15+ years.
  • Enhancement of existing facilities
  • Provision of ancillary facilities at established facilities eg. sun-protection shelters, change rooms, shower and toilet blocks.

Will not be considered

  • Purchase of land
  • General maintenance or replacement through normal wear and tear eg. painting, running costs and repairs to existing facilities.
  • Equipment eg. computers, office machinery, racing equipment.
  • Projects that have been completed.
  • Projects that involve the development of private or commercial ventures including licensed areas of registered clubs.

How EOI applications will be assessed

Eligibility

  1. The applicant is affiliated with one of the identified peak industry bodies for racing in NSW
  2. The project falls within the category of what will be considered
  3. The applicant verifies that it will provide a contribution towards the project
  4. Evidence is supplied to show that the project has been granted development consent by Council or a statement is attached detailing the process for obtaining consent, with timelines.
  5. The EOI application form is complete with all the necessary supporting documentation attached and is submitted by the closing date.

An Assessment panel including representatives from NSW Sport and Recreation, the Office of Liquor Gaming and Racing, Clubs NSW and the racing industry will consider all eligible EOI applications submitted. Criteria will include but is not limited to:

  • Project’s capacity to improve the racing experience for competitors, horses, officials and/or spectators.
  • The value of the project to the local community and surrounding communities.
  • Project’s capacity to provide an economic or social boost to the community.
  • Project’s capacity to increase safety.
  • The project planning appears to be at a point where work can commence in the short term.
