City to Country campsCity to Country school camps

Kids growing up in the city often get no closer to the bush than their televisions. This brand new program for Years 4, 5 and 6 offers an all-inclusive Aussie bush experience for city school kids.

Primary school students can now see, hear, feel and experience the landscapes and lifestyles of rural New South Wales. Participants spend 5 days exploring the historical, rural and natural heritage of regions near Tamworth, Dubbo or Wagga Wagga.

A City to Country bush experience is now being offered by Lake Keepit . Through experiential learning activities, physical challenges and fun outings, students increase their self-esteem, learn new skills, and immerse themselves in Australia’s rich country heritage.

And naturally, all activities are run by qualified and child protection checked staff employed by NSW Sport and Recreation.

Activities

  • Bush activities like fishing, camp-out and cook-out, bushwalking, orienteering, Bush Olympics and environmental awareness learning.
  • An opportunity to get up close and personal with the local wildlife – kangaroos, wallabies, pelicans, insects, echidnas, emus and other native birds
  • Off-site excursions to local natural attractions, historic and heritage sites are included in City to Country’s all-inclusive price
  • Outdoor activities like ropes courses, sailing, swimming, initiatives courses, archery, abseiling, flying fox and canoeing
  • Three fun experiential learning sessions focussing on physical activity, healthy lifestyles and active backyard games

Excursions

  • Visitors to Lake Keepit near Tamworth visit Waterways Wildlife Park and Coonabarabran’s Skywatch Observatory.

Costs and travel

City to Country programs are fully escorted and include all meals, accommodation, transport and two offsite excursions. We organise transport door-to-door in coaches fitted with seat belts and the cost is included. Coaches depart at 7am on Monday morning and return Friday afternoon.

An extra advantage is that student groups stay at a site not shared with other groups and staffed by child-protection checked personnel.

  • A 5-day City to Country camp costs $320 per child (inclusive of GST).
  • Each student pays $307.65 and the school pays $12.35 (claimable as a GST input tax credit).
  • Teachers attend free of charge
  • Each child receives a free group photo and drink bottle
