Primary School Camps

Transformations before your very eyes

A successful school camp has the power to transform your students in a very short space of time. They provide opportunities for students to live in shared accommodation, develop social skills and independence, challenge themselves and enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle.

We have the expertise to enhance your students’ development through a camp that provides experiential learning for both primary and secondary groups.  Our qualified staff can tailor sessions that are facilitated with a specific purpose ranging from participation, competition, skill acquisition, education or development.

We recognise that teacher involvement is at the heart of every successful camp, so you’ll find that our instructors will work closely with you to support what you’re doing with the curriculum. You can expect a warm welcome and plenty of encouragement to get as much from the camp experience as your students.

Primary School Camps can be tailored to:

  • encourage participation, experience and fun
  • develop social skills and independence
  • develop leadership and teamwork
  • promote active and healthy lifestyles
  • support PDHPE and HSIE syllabus requirements
  • We also offer Small school the opportunity to experience camp during our Small Schools’ camp held several times each year for one week.

Outdoor Education Program

Using the traditional camp experience students can participate in a wide range of fun and challenging outdoor activities such as kayaking, canoeing, raft building, rock climbing, bush walking and archery, just to name a few of the activities on offer at our Centres.

Activity sessions are selected and facilitated to deliver the camp objectives outlined by the school's Camp Coordinator. Please note age restrictions apply for some activities.

Curriculum links reference guide

To complement curriculum elements, Primary and Secondary educators can now use Sport and Recreations reference guide to achieve outdoor education outcomes that directly relate to the school curriculum.

Specialised programs

Some Centres also offer specialist programs for primary students. Programs include:

Gold Rush (Lake Burrendong)
Combining relevant Centre activities with trips to gold rush country, this is a great way for Year 5 and 6 students to explore the HSIE Gold Unit. This five-day camp features a visit to History Hill at Hill End to experience a once- booming gold town; a trip to a purpose-built underground mine to see what gold rush miner’s lives were like; and an excursion to a modern gold mine at Peak Hill to see how things have changed. And of course there’s a chance to try some gold panning. Once you've explored History Hill, you'll continue to the Lake Burrendong Centre for a Gold-themed camp experience.

Borambola Alpine Experience (Borambola)
Making the most of our location we can combine a traditional camp experience with an exploration of the Snowy Mountains. This includes the Kiandra Goldfields, Talbingo Snowy Hydro tour and Yarrangobilly caves.
