Austswim instructor workshops

These workshops contribute towards Professional Development for Austswim re-registration. Attend one morning or afternoon workshop or complete both workshops in a single day. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

Swim and Survive and Swimsafe
This workshop will explore the Swimsafe school age program through the Royal Life Saving Swim and Survive program Level 1 to Level 3. The Swim and Survive program develops swimming technique, water safety, water confidence, survival and endurance. Learn and interpret more about the basic skills of each of the levels under the broad topics of:

  • Entries and Exits
  • Survival and PFD skills
  • Sculling and body orientation

  • Underwater skills
  • Movement and swimming strokes
  • Water safety knowledge
  • Rescue skills
  • Extension skills

These workshops contribute towards Professional Development for Austswim re-registration. Attend one morning or afternoon workshop or complete both workshops in a single day. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

Simply Strokes
This workshop looks at the introduction of strokes to the beginner and the importance of efficient and effective stroke technique. Learn about the progressions to basic strokes as well as:

  • Identifying stroke faults
  • Corrections to stroke faults
  • Practical activities for teaching skills and progressions

FREE online training is also available from www.playbytherules.net.au
Courses take about two hours to complete and you receive a certificate. Examples include:

  • Discrimination and harassment courses
  • Child protection courses.

Austswim re-registration
Make sure your Austswim qualifications are up-to-date. Download your re-registration form from www.austswim.com.au (choose “current teachers”, then “re-registration” to download your form).

Resuscitation Courses
Resuscitation qualifications should be updated each year in order for your Austswim qualification to remain valid throughout the three year registration period. Courses are available throughout the region with many organisations including Royal Life Saving, Allens Training, St John Ambulance, Red Cross and Parasol EMT. Details are available from the relevant organisations, their websites and local weekend newspapers.

  • Date: 13 Dec 2009 how to enrol
  • Time: 8.45am to 12.45pm (Swim and Survive and Swimsafe) or 1.15pm to 5.15pm (Simply Strokes)
  • Venue: Wagga Wagga Oasis Regional Aquatic Centre, Morgan Street
  • Cost: $35 for each workshop

How to enrol

You can enrol into our programs by phone, fax, mail or in person. Please ensure you have read our booking terms and conditions.

  • By phone: Call (02) 6928 4300 . If this course has an enrolment cost, please have your credit card details ready (Visa, Mastercard).
  • By fax: Complete the enrolment form and fax to (02) 6928 4384. For courses that have an enrolment cost please ensure you include your credit card details for payment.
  • By mail: Complete the enrolment form and if this course has an enrolment cost, include your credit card details, a cheque or money order. Mail to: NSW Sport and Recreation, PO Box 699, Wagga Wagga NSW 2650.
  • In person: Visit Borambola Sport and Recreation Centre, 1980 Sturt Hwy, Borambola via Wagga Wagga NSW 2650 or your closest office.

Booking terms and conditions

  1. The fee must accompany the enrolment, otherwise the enrolment will not be accepted.
  2. Enrolment is necessary prior to the commencement of the program to secure your place.
  3. A receipt confirming the details of your booking will be issued after payment has been received.
Refunds
  1. If a request for a refund is made within five (5) working days of the program commencement, no refund of program fees will be given (including GST).
  2. If a request for a refund is made (and a written request received) five (5) working days or more prior to the program commencement, a refund will be given less a 20% administration fee of the total program fee (including GST).
  3. Refunds will not be given for partial attendance.
  4. Refunds will be paid at the completion of the program.
Program cancellations

Communities NSW reserves the right to cancel a program/s. Every effort will be made to give reasonable notice to those who have enrolled when a program is cancelled. Those enrolled will be given a full refund.
