'Beginning coaching general principles - correspondence' (formerly Level 1 Coaching general principles) is a component of the Level 1 Accreditation, under the National Coaching Accreditation process conducted under the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme.
It complements the sport specific section of coach accreditation.
This correspondence course is offered to developing coaches to undertake the required study at their convenience.
The Beginning Coaching course is a self contained for of study and offers coaches the opportunity to increase their knowledge and their skill ensuring continued improvement of our sporting talent. Topics covered include the role of the coach, planning, teaching skills, group management, communication, physical conditioning, sports safety, nutrition, drugs in sport, sports psychology and development of the athlete.
No pre-requisite is required to undertake the course, however individual State/National sports organisations may have their own requirements. Applicants are advised to check with their sports State/National Coaching Director as to the acceptability of this course as a study mode.
Fees include Beginning Coaching manual, Beginning Coaching workbook, study guide, marking and certificate.
The course can be commenced at any time but is required to be completed within 12 weeks.
