'Beginning coaching general principles - correspondence' (formerly Level 1 Coaching general principles) is a component of the Level 1 Accreditation, under the National Coaching Accreditation process conducted under the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme.
It complements the sport specific section of coach accreditation.
This correspondence course is offered to developing coaches to undertake the required study at their convenience.
The Beginning Coaching course is a self contained for of study and offers coaches the opportunity to increase their knowledge and their skill ensuring continued improvement of our sporting talent. Topics covered include the role of the coach, planning, teaching skills, group management, communication, physical conditioning, sports safety, nutrition, drugs in sport, sports psychology and development of the athlete.
No pre-requisite is required to undertake the course, however individual State/National sports organisations may have their own requirements. Applicants are advised to check with their sports State/National Coaching Director as to the acceptability of this course as a study mode.
Fees include Beginning Coaching manual, Beginning Coaching workbook, study guide, marking and certificate.
The course can be commenced at any time but is required to be completed within 12 weeks.

How to enrol
You can enrol into our programs by phone, fax, mail or in person. Please ensure you have read our booking terms and conditions.
- By phone: Call (02) 6766 1200 . If this course has an enrolment cost, please have your credit card details ready (Visa, Mastercard).
- By fax: Complete the enrolment form and fax to (02) 6766 7459. For courses that have an enrolment cost please ensure you include your credit card details for payment.
- By mail: Complete the enrolment form and if this course has an enrolment cost, include your credit card details, a cheque or money order. Mail to: Sport and Recreation, PO Box 532, Tamworth NSW 2340.
- In person: Visit Level 1 Noel Park House, 155 Marius Street, Tamworth 2340 or your closest office.
Booking terms and conditions
- The fee must accompany the enrolment, otherwise the enrolment will not be accepted.
- Enrolment is necessary prior to the commencement of the program to secure your place.
- A receipt confirming the details of your booking will be issued after payment has been received.
Refunds
- If a request for a refund is made within seven (7) days of the program commencement, no refund of program fees will be given (including GST).
- If a request for a refund is made (and a written request received) seven (7) days or more prior to the program commencement, a refund will be given less a 20% administration fee of the total program fee (including GST).
- Refunds will not be given for partial attendance.
- Refunds will be paid at the completion of the program.
Program cancellations
Office of Communities reserves the right to cancel a program/s. Every effort will be made to give reasonable notice to those who have enrolled when a program is cancelled. Those enrolled will be given a full refund.
